CUSTODY
JACKSONVILLE CUSTODY LAWYER
Because children are the most precious part of any family that
is experiencing a divorce, it only makes sense to have a board
certified lawyer and expert in marital and family law represent
you and your children. Even though courts no longer determine who
has "custody" or "primary residence" of children, there is still
the issue of which parent has the "most overnights" with the
children. The Florida Legislature has not yet mandated equal time
for both parents in a divorce case. My office specializes in
presenting your case to the Court so that the judge can make the
right decisions about the time that your children spend with each
parent. I spend a great deal of time meeting with my clients in
preparation for parenting plan evaluations or social investigations
that are used by the Court to determine the parent with whom the
children are going to spend most of their time. When necessary, we
employ a wide variety of experts to ensure that the truth comes out
including psychologists and private investigators. Among other
factors, we focus on:
- Which parent has been the primary caretaker of the children and
their activities
- Which parent puts the children's needs before their needs
- Moral, mental, substance, and physical issues with regard to
each parent
- The children's preference with regard to older children
- Child abuse or domestic violence
We will work closely with you to craft a parenting plan to
present to the Court. Your parenting plan will include each parent's
rights and responsibilities with regard to the children
including the sharing of weekends, holiday, and summers;
transportation, education, upbringing, religious issues,
extracurricular activities and their costs, relocation, telephonic
and web/email contact, and any other issue important to you and
your children. We can also create plans that take into account
military deployments and change of duty stations. I do not believe
in a "cookie-cutter" approach to your divorce or family and neither
should you. Each family has their own unique needs with regard to
the children and I am here to make sure that you receive help with
those needs.
I believe that parents should make decisions with regard to
their children, not strangers we call judges. If you and your
spouse cannot agree, however, you can be sure that I will put my
knowledge and experience as a board certified lawyer and marital
and family law expert to use before the Judge to represent you.
I represent both men and women and expect that the Court will
treat both equally. I represent military and other families in Duval,
Clay, Nassau, St. Johns, and Baker Counties. If you are out of
country or state, we can often help you over the phone and through
email. We can also discuss your appearance by phone at court
hearings.
Feel free to email or give me a call. I do not charge a
consultation fee so it costs nothing for us to talk and for you to
learn your rights. I am confident that after we speak, I will have
the pleasure of helping you and your family.
